Peter Orszag was the seventh director of the CBO serving from January 18, 2007 to November 25, 2008. The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President pro tempore of the Senate jointly appoint the CBO Director. He was appointed to the position of CBO director by Democrat Nancy Pelosi and Republican Ted Stevens each in their second full week of holding appointing office.
