Have you ever wondered-

How did people determine the structure of an atom- A particle that, to this day, has never been seen? How can we be certain that the actual structure of an atom matches the current scientific model?

It is interesting that, according to this timeline, major individual discoveries seem to have peaked in the 1940's and 1950's. There are many physicists in the world today and many new theories have been proposed. But where are the new discoveries?
